I can live with AA as a long as the cameras worth it...
And if you ever get one with an internal rechargable lithium ion battery, you'll never want to go back to any other power option. I plug my Nikon Coolpix s6000 into USB on the computer, or a wall charger and it's fully charged in less than an hour, and will run for days before needing a charge again.

Some pics taken with the Nikon Coolpix s6000. I never took photos this good until I got this camera. A $100 or less, camera just doesn't cut it. They eat up expensive batteries, don't go long on a charge, and really don't take photos like this. And the HD video it takes? Outstanding!

Oh yeah, I have that kinda battery now, that's why I hate AA.

That's still the series I'm leaning towards. Nikon coolpix... liking your S6000, which led me to the others, like the S8100... but I keep looking at s6000 cause it's cheap now..... REALLY REALLY REALLY want HD video. Can't stand my video... Especially after YouTube craps it down so much.

No camera is worth it. They go through them too fast. I don't care how great the pics are, it's not worth saving a hundred bucks only to pay that out in batteries in the first year.

Stupid touch screen... posted before I was done typing.

Yeah, that's what keeps me from buying AA cameras... although the rechargeables arent THAT bad. But still.

Coopixs all have great video... S8100 has 1080p, (and slo mo lol)... really likin those. Especially after seeing your pics.

The rechargeable AA's are even worse. Even on a full charge, they don't last near as long as disposables and they will only take a charge so many times before they need replaced. I went that route before. It sucked worse than buying disposables.

Oh... Didn't realize. Yup... staying away from AA if possible.

    Is the S6000 720p, or 1080p?

    re: Cameras and photography

It's 720p for HD but there are other video options you can choose that are not HD.

    Audio file format: AAC stereo
    HD: 1280x720p / 30fps
    HDMI output: mini-connector Type C
Movie file format (compression stream codec): MPEG-4 AVC H.264
    Movie container format: *.MOV
    Small Size: 320x240 / 30fps
    Standard TV: 640x480 / 30fps

Just remember that thing I said about high megapixels not really mattering. High megapixels on a crappy camera is still going to look worse than lower megapixels on a good camera. Same thing applies to HD. Sort of. 1080p video will look not so good on a TV or monitor that is 720p natively. However, 720p video will look just fine on a 1080p TV screen or monitor with much higher native resolution.

Most modern LCD monitors go way beyond 1080p. Mine is 24.5 inch 16:10 and the resolution goes way beyond 1080p. (technically, it's 1200p) So, as a result, it doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference if I play 720p or 1080p video on it. It pretty much looks the same. Where you run into display quality issues is if you play a video on your screen that is higher resolution than your monitor. A good way to demonstrate what I mean is to set your monitor to a fairly low res and go to youtube and play a 1080p video and you'll see what I mean. It will look worse than a format that is lower than your monitor.
