    Re: russian tortoise?

Oh, now that is a GREAT pic!! And yes, of course you should let them wander the house. My neighbor has an ooooolllllldddddd turtle that wanders loose in his house. He calls him a woods turtle-- I've never researched to see if that's an acurate name. But he has his own bedroom that he gets shut into when Steve's at work, then gets to roam around when he's home. :-)

Exclamation Hes not a Garter!! Please help!

Ok, well I just figured out that Petco sold me a "Canadian Garter" who is really a Striped Keelback Xenochrophis vittatus. I read they have fangs and are mildy venoumous, great starter snake huh? Does anyone know anything about this type of snake? Or just how bad their venoum is? Also, what should I feed him!?

They are Indonesian, and completely harmless.

Have no fear, they make great pets, and we will still be supportive to you all the way

The care is so similar to a garter.

    don't panic
I had some and they're lovely snakes
none of mine - not even the skittish one - ever tried to bite
I was able to get mine to take frozen/thawed pinkies, but they really prefer fish
    try trout, salmon, or tilapia
you will have to use a supplement also and if you're up for it, I highly recommend trying the fish mixture some people on this forum have been making:

    and a couple more . . .
