    Re: Adventures with Simone..

Steve.. I'm one of the people that can't sit through a whole movie.. I rarely sit in one spot for more than 20 minutes LOL I did sit with her for a bit tonight, but then dogs came in and I think all the comotition made her/me antsy.. I worry if she got lose one of the cats would deliver her as a trophy.. Not something I want. The kids all got a chance to hold her for a few minutes as well. She hasn't tried to bite, which is awesome and hasn't musked us in a week.

Please be extra careful with the kids and the enclosure. Kids have a bad habit of leaving lids off and doors unlocked. The young ones can also hold them in too tight a grip. They don't understand the concept of letting the snake work through your hands. Most pets and animals are held static. Not the case with snakes. I'm sure your aware of all this but a reminder never hurts.

    Re: Adventures with Simone..

The enclosure is in the boy's room.. I made it clear they're not allowed to touch it, they've spent a fair amount of time just watching her. I've really tried to use the fear of cats in them, my Ruby brings us all kinds of trophy's, mice, birds, gophers. IWhen Ally held her tonight I coiled her in one hand and had her cover her with her other hand, a nice warm cozy place to chill. Sam tried holding her head still, wich didn't work too well, so we talked about letting her find a place she's comfortable being held. The youngest, hasn't got to hold her. he just sits next to me and talks to her watching her breathe. "what a pretty snake you are"

My reminder post wasn't needed. Sounds like you're doing a great job! I can just picture the youngest whispering "what a pretty snake" Priceless!

It's all good Steve. I believe once you take an animal in you have a responsibility to care for it and respect it's life. Something I'm trying to instill in my kids. I can't stand it when people say "oh it's just a snake" or " I only spent 5 bucks for the lizard, I'm not going to spend $100 to take it to the vet" ( I work in a pet store and hear these coments everyday) I really appreciate all the advice and information here
