I have several old road signs, boards and a large monster truck tire that I leave laying in the yard on purpose (and I wonder why my neighbors think I am a nut case?)

Stephanie, Take a flashlight and look under anything that has been laying on the ground a while.

Next best place is up close to your homes foundation....

If your yard is too clean, then go clutter it up a bit!

backyard is cluttered..LOL we lazy! still have our $475 pool up, it has leaves, mudd, in it. will take flashlight(we got one that will light up the whole back yard.)lol will let you know if I find any slugs, worms.. spiders...
