Reed, Nearly ALL "Accidents" are from improper use of heat rocks.

My vet has treated MORE burns from improper use of basking lamps than heat rocks.

A properly set up and thermostat controlled heat rock is quite harmless.

Much of the "Anti heat rock" propaganda stems back from years ago when they had dangerous hot spots, no thermal cut off devices, and from home made heat rocks that shorted out.

I broke open a Zoo Med heat rock that quit getting warm, They have a thermal switch inside that shuts off power to the rock if they get too warm nowadays.
