I got the camera. The battery is charging, the manual is waiting to be read.

Like I said, it's waiting to be read. Might have to wait a long time.

Great choice in camera. I've had a 350D/Rebel XT for several years now. Great camera. I use it as a backup camera now because I've added a 40D for more usability but both get frequent use.

A part of one of the first pictures I took with the macro lens. Had to use the flash, though. And I shut off the autofocus, it was pissing me off.

It shouldn't have any exif info. It's just a small part of the original picture, copied in IrfanView and pasted into Paintshop Pro and saved as a new image file.

The autofocus wouldn't focus on the right spot. There's probably something in the manual that would tell me why that is and how to correct it.

    Ah, that explains a lot!

The autofocus might focus in the wrong spot because of the focus metering. Is it set to focussing in the middle, in the sides or just anywhere where the camera thinks it should be sharp?

I've set my camera to focussing in the middle, just because thats mostly where the subject is
