    Re: Pugets Re Deaux

Oh, thank you everyone! These guys are so different than I've ever had! Not that I've had a bazillion garters/snakes, but SO DIFFERENT!

One o'The Boys was up on a log, hangin' out, at the front of the tank - so pretty! And I knocked on the tank and NOTHING. Knocked harder - NOTHING. Not even a tongue flick. KNOCKED ON THE GLASS REALLY REALLY HARD and NOTHING! I freaked, fumbled getting the tank lid off and reached in with a finger to get my dead baby... And off he slithered! Weird! LOL!!!

As I type, the front-tank one went to hide out and two are in the 'sauna.' The 10g will not be the best home for them and I'll be glad when I can move them into the 29g. They're REALLY long. Rick says in their second year they'll add about one more foot (!!!YIKES!!!) and will fill out. These guys are really really long! WAY longer than Winnie at the park, the longest garter I know.

This all feels surreal. It's gonna take some time getting used to. I never imagined I'd have Peepers and Jeepers let alone three BLUE snakes! I wish I could shrink myself down and get in the tank(s) with them.

    Re: Pugets Re Deaux

'Rockster is the smallest o'the three. About the size o'Jeepers head-wise and around-wise, but AT LEAST double the length.

Kunikpok, "Kisses," has a teeny-tiny white spot smack dab in the middle of the back o'his head. He's been 'kissed'! Lettuce hope his kiss stays, for identification porpoises.

    Tungortok is the largest head-wise, around-wise, length-wise.

Bet in adulthood I'll not be able to tell any o'them a part! LOL!!!

I've just been sitting here, watching Niizh, then into the living room to watch Peeps and Jeeps; well, Jeeps anyway.

Then back in here to The Blues Brothers (EEEEKKKK! DON'T CHA'LOVE IT????!!!) tank to watch them.

They're all so different - so just themselves. What fascinating creatures to have/have as a hobby! I just love the world! There is SO MUCH to learn about! I'm really glad I learned about snigglettes.

And I thank Dekay, 'Rockster and Rick for all the help you guys have given me and the kids you've passed into my care. Oh! And Jodi, my Hoggy breeder, too!

    THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good times, MK . I wish I had more time to be as active as I once was, but sadly, I don't.

I love how excited you are about your new snakes, MK, and your enthusiasm tells me you'll be a great owner for these guys!!! They really are special snakes! They're easily handled, and aren't the least bit skittish. If there's any drawback to these snakes, it's that they are voracious eaters. They've never bitten me, or even struck at me, but they have bitten each other, especially when fish is on the menu, so keep an eye on them. Other than that, you'll love them, and I'm sure they'll be eating out of your hand in no time. Cheers !!!

Finally, a big hello to all of my friends on the forum. Best regards,
    Rick

    Re: Pugets Re Deaux

    Hay, Rick! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christa, thanks! These are way different in 'personality' than Peeps & Jeeps, and Niizh. They stay their ground and do a stare-down. Currently, they're slowling pulling in their heads when I wiggle my finger - and they're awake. But they don't run... They're kind'a sneaky and like ssssllllloooooollllllyyyyy with draw head - pause - and sssslllllooooooowwwwwwllllllyyyyy crawl in the opposite direction. Very nonchalant.

They don't seem to flick their tongues as often. But, maybe they're still chilled/off from the trip. They sure don't seem to NEED and settling in! LOL!!! They're comfy looking under the white light, on the heat pad.

I picked one up yesterday and only thing it did was quietly musk on me. Settled down fairly quickly in my hand.

The red on their tongue is not red-red, but a darker maroon-blood red. You can hardly see the difference from the black.

Peepers and Jeepers like to burrow under plant pots, substrate. These guys don't seem - yet - to like to burrow. But rather hide under something that's raised a bit off the substrate so that they're under something, but not like under ground.

And they stick pretty much together in one place, mostly, like one snake with three heads! P & J tend to go their own ways and rarely are together, unless to snuggle up under something.

Zoe, check this month's picture contest. Shannon has her Puget climbing in some marigolds.

And as soon as folks read this, I'm sure they'll post pics here.

    Re: Pugets Re Deaux

I'm home as they're pulling the old boiler today. HOPEFULLY I will have heat - that I've been w/o since Sunday - come tomorrow nite... Pulling old boiler today, new one goes in tomorrow.

So. I held 'Rockster and tried to feed him fish. Fineally he took a piece and I let him down to swollow it. Nah. He spit it out and I put him back in the tank.

Then I held Tungortok and tried to hand feed him. He, like 'Rockster, took a piece and tried to run off with it. When I wouldn't let him, he spit it out.

So, I put Kunikpok in The Feeder Plastic Thingy with fish and the guy fatted out!!! Put Tungortok in and he ate some too! 'Rockster is in there now and we'll see what happens.

    NOT BAD FOR DAY TWO!!!
