My First Ribbon - Special Concern

These guys are under special concern in Maine, however I was lucky enough to find one today poking around my lawn. I will fill out my usual report for the state and take the usuaul pics in hopes that someday they give me a permit.

Anyways take a look, real sharp looking guy..

Greatest thing about this is it means there is a mommy and daddy near by Kinda cool to know an animal under special concern is located near your house..

btw - next on my list, the timber rattle snake has been expired in Maine since like 1945 I think, someday someday

Gosh! But that looks like a 'normal' MN Common Eastern Garter. Though maybe the stripe doesn't go up as high on the head.

Weird the ribbons and easterns look so much a like.

Good find and good luck with your permit.

Most definately a Ribbon and I believe an Eastern. Note the little white bar in front of the eyes. Nice find.

Yea, google-ing around I see images with both northern and easterns with that white bar.
