In the case that they were adults, I would certainly not have taken 12 specimen, but 2.2 at the most.

So not only are the collected snakes now missing from the local garter population, they're also removed from the food network.

I do not think that is such a bad thing. But I see your point.

jesuschrist, what a bunch a drama queens. did you not see the statement i made about letting them go after i breed them. jesus you guys just hear what you want to. selective reading. i am well aware of collecting to much from the wild stock. every year i collect about 100 barking treefrogs, i breed them. which in turn gives me about 2000 frogs. which i then return 500 or so back to the wild. i have single handedly boosted ny areas treefrogs 10 fold by doing so. i am a very avid conservatonist. i am a 8 year member of my areas fish and wildlife member. i give speeches on captive breeding to boost dimished species. i also have personally released over 50 indigo snakes that i have bred because there endangered in florida. i paid for a permit to keep them just so i could breed them, to help save them. so dont friggin judge me ove a couple garter snakes. i have done more than for reptiles in my area than any of the stone throwers here will ever do.

    Re: 25 florida blues found

If you scroll through the post you can read and feel the confusion.

1st you found and captured 25 baby(maybe adults, we still dont know) Fl blues.

2nd you're keeping 1/2 - 8 females and 4 males(which if you're breeding that would potentially litter you over 200 baby snakes. Thats a lot of mouths to feed.

3rd and the most recent issue was the order of natural selection. Odds are 25% or less of those babies would even make it to adult hood.

So what if people are a little concerned. I'm sure there are posts on here everyday with beginner people finding a snake and giving snake ownership a "go" at the expense of the captured snake. You should appreciate the concern being a 8 year member of your ares Fish and Wildlife conservation.
