They're really great to see in the wild, James. They're not shy at all so quite easy to photographe. And when you throw a fly or cricket to him he will attack right away.
Most people from our herping group are only searching for reptiles, but Gijs and me spend almost an hour with these two Dolomedes !! They were that fascinating

Dolomedes is quite rare in the UK Sabine. I have looked for it in places where it is reported to be found, but I've never been lucky. Another one I have never seen but want to...Micrommata virescens...anybody seen that one?

Haha, that's so funny, James !! We haven't seen that many spiders on our fieldtrips, but the micrommata virescens we have
Only the pic is not very good, but good enough to recognize it.

I must move to Kudelstaart immediately! It's just not fair. If I ever visit Amsterdam for a "weekend" you must show me where you find all these beautiful creatures.

Actually Sabine, the picture may be a little fuzzy but it's good because it shows the typical Sparassid stance/posture. I like it.

James, we didn't find those spiders close to our home. The Dolomedes we found in Drente (close to the german border) 2 years ago.
And the micrommata in Limburg (between Belgium and Germany) 3 years ago.

I love carnivorous plants. Everytime I try to grow a Venus Fly Trap it dies. I want to move on to harder plants but if I can't keep a VFT alive
Anyway, you are so lucky to be able to see them in the wild!
