Breeding Garters

I bred garters years ago and I remember it wasn't very difficult.

Once my snakes are big enough and sexed i hope to breed from them.

How well do garters breed across species?

I have 4 checkered garters (unsure of sex by looking at tails)

I have a chance to breed a couple of red sided garters too a little larger but not adults yet.

would these cross breed?

First... welcome to this forum.

Personally I do not think they will crossbreed, but you´ll never know.
To be sure this doesn´t happen, keep them apart.

Another welcome to the forum, and like Fons said, it is extremely unlikely that if they do manage to mate, that they'll produce viable offspring. Have a look at this thread (http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/gene...siblities.html) for a more thorough discussion.
