hahaha, well, ysterday I had a second litter born... totally blew my mind! I didn't even know that snake was gravid!!! She birthed 20 easterns.. but 10 were stillborn and the ones that are alive are SUPER thin compared to the chunkers the first mama had. I am sure they will do just as fine... its jsut amazing to see them compared! I tried saving all 10 individually.. but it looked like tehy were just a DAY or two under-developed. Their heads had this funny slight bulge to tehir shape taht yuo could tell something jsut wasnt right. She did not shed either! Oh well, my tiger salamander and My cali king had the stillborns as a snack... I would rather see them go to some good use than in my trash. I guess I will jsut be thankful that I have 10 extra little ones I didn't think were gonig to be here! I am also just glad to see that at least half of them made it. I will try and take a comparison picture of one from the first litter and one from the second to show you how tiny they are!

trust me, after a while... you get used to the idea that you can't keep them all! Though, I still have all of my ratsnake mutts, the first snakes I ever bred and hatched on my own... there is something very sentimental to me about those 6 snakes that I can't eplain.

oh and one other thing.. the count from the first litter is now at 27... I found one scooting his way through the kitchen last night!!! I am guessing that when I removed the deco piece from the cage, I did not check it as well as I thought I did... I pulled 3 babies out of it and could not find anymore...

oh well, goes to show you... once you think you are done checking.... check again!!

Congrats on your unexpected little ones, Shannon! Too bad so many didn't make it, but hopefully the others will thrive and catch up to their fatter 'cousins'!
