    Re: Vagrans I have met...

She's my absolutely favorite snake ever followed very closely by Don's silver/white/black eastern. I may end up going with easterns instead, but I really, really, really love Claire

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

    Re: Vagrans I have met...

I personally have never met a vagrans, but I must say - So many of the pics I have seen totally remind me of some of the atratus I find further inland!

Of course recent genetic studies indicate that the ordinoides, atratus and elegans complexes are closely related.

    Great snakes!

Steve, I just wanna say... It is SO NICE to have you here! You're a wonderful, patient teacher with a great sense of humor and I appreciate the time you put in here to help and educate - especially me. Your joy, facination and enthusiasum for herps, snakes in particular, is opening the once formerly squinted-closed eyes of this previous Herp Hater. I'm so glad to have "vagran" across you!

Really?? Well I am sure Claire is flattered. =D She has a lot of personality as well. Very active but handles really well. And is a PIGGY eater.
Can't wait to breed her next year!!

Don's silver eastern is one of my favorites too! Just incredible!!!

Why thank you... But really! A previous Herp Hater? You? That's awesome! What made you reform? LOL! No really, how does a herp hater "warm up" to herps? I want to know. That way I can open up my First Church of Heavenly Herps and preach to the world how snakes are not evil! Just joking of course. I am not a religious person, but if I were, that would be my congregation... okay, not really... maybe just a cult... uh... okay, how 'bout a small get-together chanting "Yay snakes! Woo hoo lizards! Toss me a frog?"

I don't usually get this silly, sorry; I will be serious information dude again!
Roar! Hissss! Actually, the reason I am off kilter tonight iiiiis: I went on a herp hike along the Trinity River today and did not find a single snake! That's a big boo-hoo and some cheese with my whine! Waaaah!

    Okay, much better now...

Sincerely and oh so slowly letting the freak shine,

    Steve

Yeah, I am over it now. I did find an awesome Boreal Toad and lots of Foothill Yellow-legged Frogs tho....

Thanks for the story Gertie - that wonderful progression towards serpent appreciation. Now how do we turn all the other "ophidiaphobes" into snake lovers?!!! Even the gradual approach doesn't work with everyone!
