Now those are neat looking snakeys!! Cool birthday gift!
You'll have to fill us in on more info. Sounds like quite a few of us haven't seen them before.
How big do they grow? What do they eat? etc,etc,etc.....

    Re: new snakes......

i think i find those,or something that looks like those, on our property. i pick them up all the time but i've never tried to keep them 'cause i have no idea what they eat. they're about the size of a very young garter but with a tiny head. i find them under boards and logs, often near ant mounts, so i wondered if ants are part of their diet?

they are from Texas. they eat worms and soft bodied insects.... houised similar to garters. I have these little fellas in a small tank with a couple inches of coconut bedding. they are good at burrowing. two of them have eaten worms so far, they are getting used to their new home. the larger ones in the first photo are full grown adults....average around 10 inches or so.

Neat little snakes, Don. Congratulations. Both the Rough Earth and Smooth Earth Snake are native here in SC. I've found the Smooth, but as yet not the Rough. There still on my life list of finds.

Very nice Don. Like Sid, I've found smooth earth snakes around my house. (In Va.) No rought earth snakes yet. Also quite a few worms snakes also. I think they're supposed to be easy to house & feed as well. Steve
