    Cool Expo Houten, Netherlands

Yesterday there was an expo from the European Snake Society in Houten, the Netherlands.

When I went home I was five Thamnophis-specimen richer

At first I went to get the snakes I ordered in advance.

    To begin with this one...

A second female Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia (so now I have 1.2)

You are lucky, I went to a reptile show recently, and there was not one garter snake to be seen. It was like they never existed. Very disappointing!

This expo was only for snakes.
And for every garter snake there were at least 300 Panterophis/Lampropeltis present. Not to mention the ballpythons, Boa's and venemous snakes.

    Re: Expo Houten, Netherlands

It's sad...not a lot of garter breeders out here.... We are having our annual reptile expo here in Utah this weekend. Eventually I am hoping to have a booth there, but for htis year I am working at the Reptile Rescue booth. Last year I saw about 5 garters at the expo...i bought a pair of young adult red siders and saw a couple baby plains garters. There was a guy that was sent to me...said he had an eastern that had about 25 babies andhe was looking to sell them. When I found the guy, he said he let the mother go....I looked at the babies, they were wandering garters, local snakes....what a goon! I let h im know they were local snakes and he left.

In Holland we have a few great Thamnophis-breeders and thanks to them there are garters on the bigger expo's.
The only garters I saw on the tables from general snake-sellers were some sirtalis sirtalis, two albino radix (?) and that was all.
So, in Holland there are also not may garters presented.
