Many people believe vertical setups are easier to clean. In my experience, they aren't.
Also, roach nymphs hide in their parents frass and pick up trace beneficial pathogens that aid in digestion.

Oooooh. Ah. Right. Well, actually, it's no different for the larger animals-- baby goats and foals eat poop and dirt before they eat anything else, same reason, to pick up needed enzymes and stuff. ("Stuff" is the official name for beneficial pathogens. LOLOL)

I need a better lesson in telling the boys from the girls. They all look the same to me. I'll try to post some pics, if I can get the little buggers to stay still-- they are slippery little things aren't they?

I just grab them from above, flip them over, and check to see if the last segment before the end of the abdomen is large, which is female, or small and divided, male. ;D

But I'm afraid I'm going to squoosh them! It's ok to put a bit of pressure on their sides to hold them? If I end up with roach guts on me I'm comin' after you!! lol
