The T. fulvus of me are easy irritated, but do not really bite.
Do not know if this is "normal" for the whole species.

aren't fulvus kind of a small species?
I'm imagining them to get about as big as Chloe, my maritime, who seems to have topped out at circa 18" (have to measure some time)

Yes. They grow to about 65cm (26") according to my sources.

I was just being lazy, Stefan
and 65cm/26" is not that small for a garter
they were totally on my wish list last year, and then I had the concinnus babies . . .
they're still on my wish list, but I've got an acquisition limit this year

If most garter species grow larger than that, I call it a small species. I think all except 5 or 6 species grow bigger than fulvus.

    T. fulvus is indeed one of the smaller species. They grow up to 60-65 cm according literature.
