Well, they say we're a little behind in this part of Belgium than in the other parts... SO... Happy new year and best wishes for 2008, everyone!

I got a text from Lulu today... She's having problems with her internet connection at the moment so she can't get on-line. She asked me to wish you all a very happy New Year from her, and she'll talk you soon.

Lulu, I'm so impressed that you've done eleven days! It will get easier very soon, they say the first fourteen days are the hardest. Don't weaken now. I've given up for short periods in the past, but my will is weak!

Just think how much money you'll save too. And how much better you'll smell! Respect for your efforts so far, I'm rooting for you.

I've heard some women say they'd rather give birth than quit smoking. LOL It must be really rough. I just read somewhere that they are coming out with a vaccine that restricts your brain from absorbing nicotine, so it helps smokers quit and it keeps new smokers from getting any benefit!!!

    Re: Happy New Year!

I quit smoking when I found out I was expecting my daughter. Unfortunately, with my son a couple years earlier, I was unable to do it, and he was a preemie, and has asthma, and I feel awful guilty. So when my daughter came along I just knuckled down and DID it. But it is sheer hell the first couple of weeks, so just hang in there, Lulu.
One thing you can do to inspire yourself is to put the money you would normally spend on smokes into a jar, and at the end of each month being smoke-free, you go out and buy yourself something really nice, or get a manicure/pedicure -- anything really to pamper yourself. It's amazing how fast the dollars and cents add up, and it's a great way to keep yourself going when the cravings get difficult to deal with.
Best of luck.........it's a challenge, but a very worthwhile one.
    Anji
