What drives people to do these shocking things. It always leaves me sad.

This is really quite sad, countries like Finland are some of the few left that you don't hear about this kind of thing. It always makes me feel sick inside when I hear news like this, anywhere. Especially being a parent!

Well, he was apparently on some kind of medication, so he obviously had some mental problems in his past.

Apparently, he put a video warning up on YouTube, too. Does sound like someone with serious mental issues indeed.

The scary part is that there aren't really any ways to prevent massacres like this. And of course everybody is looking for something to blame and it's the same old song as after Columbine and Virginia Tech.

Very true, that's why we just have to hope and pray that it doesn't. Although here in Canada, I think we could use better care for the mentally ill -- they tend to fall through the cracks, and not always get the attention they need until they do something like this. We've had this type of thing go on before, and in the US it seems to be happening more frequently all the time. But I guess it's not always that simple a solution.......

Indeed, a school would be an easy target if you choose to do something like this. I remember the Dunblane massacre here in the UK. It just leaves you dumfounded. I can't begin to imagine what the parents who lost children are feeling right now. It's sickening.

Yes, and my heart and prayers go out to every family in Finland affected by this tragedy. And right now I'm going to go give my kids a big hug just because!
