Re: Boa Constrictor found in Point Pleasant Park

    hey,
Nothing was mentioned on how the Alligator had gotten their, more than likely,it's owner could no longer care for it or was moving and just dumped it!!even at 4 ft. ,some extra space would be needed, and if I'am not mistaken,Alligator's and Croc's are illegal to own, with out proper papers,so dumping it ,would be the easiest, sad, but this happens alot!!

That really is ******... it's like- (from what I've PERSONNALLY seen) kids and other teens that act like them see them... think their "cool" and take them home to try and impresse people with them n ****, their really not respecting the animal as they should.... them when the thing is old news, they just get rid of it in the easiest way FOR THEM it pisses me off, bc i'd love to have a boa... SOMEDAY- You just kinda hope someday one will slither back home... (evil laugh)

I too would LOVE to have a beautiful Boa, but prolly no time soon. My budget definitely doesn't have the room for it, and neither does our home in its current state. The one found in the park will apparently be 'looking for adoptive home' if there is no owner located, and it saddens me to think of what might happen to him/her if the owner isn't located OR someone else attracted to the novelty of it manages to adopt it.

Ahhh well maybe one day when I can afford to care for one properly.

Incidentally, I think it's worth mentioning that as we speak, my city/province is discussing a bylaw prohibiting the ownership of ANY snakes or snake-like creatures that exceed 6 feet in length, or something along those lines.
Personally I think it's a waste of time and resources, and there are MANY people around here with just such animals, who may be expected to give up their existing pets under this regulation. They are considering a 'grandfather' clause, but still that just adds MORE beaurocracy to the whole thing.
With the exception of something like a 25-foot-long 2-tonne Anaconda, I don't really think 3, 6, 9, or 12 or whatever feet long should really have a bearing on the situation.
(** And NO-ONE in their right mind wants a 2 tonne anaconda anyways :P)
