have you tried to contact the seller to find out what their policy is? i think that should be your first step.

I think you should contact them, and do it right away or you might end up
sh*t out of luck on this, even Felzer says to let them know right away of any problems or atleast in the first day or two afterwards, and he gives a
very good policy with his snake........well hope that helps....good luck

Thanks to all for sharing your point of view ... I did contact the seller immediately and I was totally surprised that the initial response was that 'he' was not responsible for shipping. That took me by surprise as I just 'assumed' that the seller had some liability for the buyer receiving their 'goods' intact. After a few emails this has been resolved, a replacement animal is due to arrive Tuesday and I agreed to split the cost of shipping. I have never received a DOA before so I posed this question to the forum wondering if I were the only one with these expectations.

Sorry to hear that Marian, but honestly anytime I've ordered something I've always checked with the person on exactly what the terms are and what they're willing to do incase something does happen. Not paying the shipping doesn't really surprise me much, but glad you were able to work something out and hope this one comes through in good shape.

Hey Roy, I was curious as to what other folks expected. Seems I have just been fortunate up until this point. Hopefully this post will alert others to discuss this type of thing upfront as you already do

If a snake dies during normal shipping there was something wrong with the animal in the first place.If the shipping was delayed a day or so I could see the sellers arguement.That is the risk with shipping live animals.They don't insure them because you are really not supposed to be doing it.Unless you go delta dash.I am not even sure if they insure live arrival either.
