    Re: DOA _ Question ???

Yes, everything was 'okay' as in the box was not damaged in any way, and there were no abnormal circumstances except for a dead baby snake. I am curious if I am the only one who 'assumes' the seller takes responsibility for 'live' arrival. I thought that was a given, actually I never gave it any thought until now which is why I am asking. This is the very first experience with a DOA.

So, no abnormal circumstances, you send a snake, it dies in transit, you (the buyer) expect the seller to refund your money in total (including shipping) or replace the animal ... Is that correct ???

    Re: DOA _ Question ???

That's what I would expect.... much the same as receiving any goods 'damaged in transit'.

I agree with the others. I think a responsible person (shipper) should offer to replace the snake for free. If not, than a refund doesn't sound unreasonable.

This all applies unless you've been dealing with "bob". You know how he used to work.

    Re: DOA _ Question ???

The seller should replace the animal or give a refund at their discretion.
If they do not do so then posting about them someplace like the BOI (board of inquiry) on FaunaClassifieds - Site Home Page to let others know about their bad business practices. If a refund is given you should not expect compensation for shipping costs.

Usually sellers have DOA clause in their TOS which states specifics of what they expect upon the customer receiving a dead animal (like reporting the matter immediiatly, providing pictures and even sending the animal back)

I have heard stories of shady individuals even shipping snakes that were already dead and knowingly shipping sick animals that died in transit.

If the seller does not do what is good business I would post on fauna.

    Re: DOA _ Question ???

i think both parties never want that to happen. if it was me i would at least want a new snake free of charge, but i think the buyer should be willing to pay for the extra shipping. paying another shipping fee wouldnt be too unreasonable, that way both buyer and seller sacrifice a little to correct the mishap, but if the seller wants to pay for shipping that say alot for the person.
