So I've been away from this site and part of the hobby for several years. Got into Corn snakes then drastically downsized my collection to just one female Brazilian Rainbow boa.
I'd really like to get back into garters and didn't get any time this year to go out herping to see what i could find locally. So I'm putting my feelers out here to see who's out and about...

I'm in Hamilton, not too far from you, you can still find garters out if you want to get yourself a wildcaught one, otherwise not much is available this time of year. I found a few garters when I went herping two days ago.

I would recommend captive bred animals for a whole host of reasons. Without getting into ethical discussions, there are some great Canadian vendors that routinely carry gartersnakes. Jim from J and J Reptiles in Calgary ships Canada-wide and routinely brings crazy awesome garters to the Alberta shows. Port Credit Pet Centre in Ontario also ships, and may likely has checkered garters and probably some of Jim's stock on occasion.
