    Thoughts on odd-looking poo

If you didn't see it on my other thread, we got the results of the fecal today, and my snake that had been regurging was negative for parasites. He's eaten two worms over the last three days and pooped twice. However, the past two times he's pooped it's been incredibly runny and had an odd smell to it, so that's what I'm asking about.

If there are urates mixed in with it, it's definitely poo right? Like, there's no strange physiological process I'm unaware of that would cause a regurge to have something that looks like urates in it? I only ask because I imagine a regurged worm would look a lot like runny poo, so I'm using the presence of urates to differentiate between those two things at the moment. (It's definitely not mucous btw, I examined it pretty closely to make sure of that). Also the weirdly acidic smell to it has me kind of worried... I think it's probably just where his system isn't fully recovered yet and those two worms went through pretty quick, but I was curious if anyone had any other ideas on it.

I know, I'm charging up my camera so I can have it handy next time this happens. When I saw this it was literally 5 in the morning and searching around for my camera charging cables and waiting for it to charge (which takes awhile as it's pretty old) wasn't really an option. The only reason I was even in there to see it before it dried up and got flicked around by the snake is because I'm kind of an insomniac.

Got a picture! My camera's charge lasted just long enough for me to snap it so I have to finish charging before I can get it on my computer, but I'll post it later tonight. This one was a little more solid than the others have been, so I'm taking that as a sign his system is getting back to normal. The smell is still definitely weird though...

Glad to hear the fecal was negative! I am stumped on the loose, runny , rancid stool. Especially in the presence of a negative fecal. Is it possible the worms were bad, old ? Idk. Hope it's minor though.

So here's a picture; this is actually more solid than it has been the past two times, so I'm hoping that's a sign that it's on its way to getting back to normal. The red coloration along the edges is coming from the moisture bleeding into some of the papers, not from any blood in the stool.

I don't think the worms were bad. They smelled fine to me, looked healthy, and my frog and turtle both ate them from the same container on the same day with no problems.

EDIT: He's also been very enthusiastic about taking the worms and acting very hungry. I'm still slowly working my way up to getting him to normal meals again, but when he regurged he showed absolutely no interest in food for at least a week afterward both times.

Certainly odd looking to what I would call normal. Did you break the hard looking stuff apart and examine it? I see what appears to be urates so that is good.

Yeah, I think the hard looking stuff was just where it had started to dry. When I examined it more closely it was still pretty goopy like the rest of it. No solid masses in there at any rate.
