    Snake always in the hide.

I have been patient for a while with my T. sauritus trying to get him used to handling. I have been hand feeding but he / she still stays in the hide 99% of the time. The times I had picked him up when I first got him he was really stressed at the very beginning but did actually calm down while being held. If I were to go back to just catching him to pick him up will that be counter productive as to having him be okay with being handled?

Ribbon snakes are notorious for being jumping. It's hard wired into them and is difficult to change. My girl Shyblue(R.I.P.) never really got to a point where she trusted me. Close but her nature said "NO"
    Hope you have better luck.

I can see how that could be the case. I have mine in a large encloser 55 gal.(larger than I had before) I'm thinking of putting him in a smaller maybe 20 gal. later for a while to see the difference.
