Nice to have you with us. I don't know how much experience you have with keeping garters but it sounds like you might be fairly new to the hobby. Breeding garters is something that should be don't after you've taken the time to keep them and learn all you can. I'm certainly not try to put you down but breeding and the care of the young is tricky at times and requires a wealth of experience and knowledge to be successful.

Hi and welcome! If there is anything we can do to help you with the injured and gravid (pregnant) female, please let us know. Steve is correct in saying that breeding is something that should come after some time of learning about caring for and keeping garters in general. There is a lot to learn about breeding and taking care of babies, which is no small undertaking. There is certainly nothing wrong with acquiring some captive bred garters though. I don't know what you mean about giant checkereds...I mean, garter snakes don't exactly grow to be giant. Your usually looking at the largest females being around 4 ft, give or take. Correct me if I am wrong about this...to the more experienced members. I have one male checkered and he is a couple years old and maybe two feet long at most and pretty small in diameter.
