    Re: is my snake hurt?

For future reference as well... It's most often recommended by a vet to wait at least 1 year or until the snake is of decent size before you have them checked... Or you may injure or cause pain to the snake. I have had Suzi about 9 months, and she is pretty big but I'm still scared to have her checked yet... Since she has grown past the length most males would get, I would say she is female...

A good rule of thumb for the most commonly kept species is that males reach a length of about two feet (60 cm), while females can reach around three feet + (90 cm).

Yeah, I guess I should have waited then. I'd rather wait than have another one of my snakes hurt

    Re: is my snake hurt?

I've seen mine popped before, but it was when I picked them up from one of the bigger garter breeders in the country, who definitely knows what he's doing.

Keep in mind for vet visits that unless you know a reptile specialist, most dog/cat vets don't really know much about snakes. They probably wouldn't know what to look for if you asked about injury from popping lol

If you absolutely need to take a snake to the vet, an exotics vet is the best choice.

But in all seriousness, you really don't need to take your snake to the vet over this. Medication and vet trips are stressful to them, and I never take one of my reptiles unless it is obviously something that will not improve with basic care and time.

Yeah if she is eating, pooping, and roaming around as normal you're probably in the clear
