Silver, het albino female T.s.parietalis - Red Sided garter is just coming out of opaque phase (shedding phase). Somehow the hide was pushed off of the heat spot. That didn't make any difference to this big girl. I don't usually find my big snakes in this configuration.

How is this different than a normal red sided? I'm at a loss to see any difference.

I would say 40% are named. Not sure what to tell you about the names, it just comes to me.

Made a new friend outside today. I was working around the deck when I spotter an opaque male radix watching me from the siding. I had my daughter Hailee bring me a couple night crawlers and a pair of hemostats. I offered the first worm to him when he was behind the siding. I guess I should say someone grabbed it and pulled it in. I required him to come out and get the second worm, which he did. He was very opaque but apparently very hungry. I love being able to have a relationship with my wild snakes.

The search is on for a large female radix that has made her way into the basement. She has been living in the unfinished ceiling in the laundry area. I found garter snake crap all over my new WiFi router and in the surrounding area. I'm going to set a little box trap for her. She spends much of her time on top of the cold air ducting above the router. How do I know that you ask?
Well, I reached my hand up there and found a large amount of wet garter poo. There's also a partial shed up there. Looks like she goes out to feed and comes back to rest in the house.
I've got to meet this smart girl.

I did not set a trap for her and have paid the price for that. I thinks she's taunting me. While I worked outside she set down some new crap. I placed something clean there to see how recent she's been around (photos to follow) This is getting personal.

Victory is mine. No trap needed. I caught her dumping a load off the edge of the duct work. I simply reached up and grabbed her, she of course finished dumping her load when I did. She is a beautiful gravid girl. I took her out for some photos and in natural light she is gorgeous. She'll be staying on the Ranch, I want to take a look at her babies. They will be released around the deck later. Should be a smaller litter and she's not a big girl yet.

OMG so excited! I love the gravid girls, they're so pretty! I'm impatiently waiting for mine to drop off her babies. I'm glad you caught her, and not her poo on your head, lol!
