I had a photo of Tank made into a small poster print. He reacted to it which surprised me.

I think that's proof that you can never keep another snapping turtle around Tank He looked angry that that other turtle was getting too close to his human!

Have you seen the clip of Steve Irwin showing the tortoise Harriet pictures of another one of her species? Pretty cute. I should print out a picture of Turtle and see if she does anything.

I found my turtle laying eggs tonight. She hasn't been with another turtle since at least the beginning of last summer, but apparently box turtles can store sperm for up to five years. I'm going to try and incubate them and see what happens! I've read where eggs can either hatch after three months, or overwinter. Hopefully these don't overwinter.
Any babies will be released where the mother was caught, since the father had to have been a wild turtle from the area as well

Definitely keep us updated on the eggs! I've been thinking of getting an Eastern Boxie for awhile now.

Well, as of today, there's still just the one egg, and one that she laid in her water and subsequently squished with her foot Average is 4-6, so I keep checking hoping for a couple more. I know she's looking for a better place to lay them, so I put a mound of moss/reptibark in there so she has more stuff to dig in.
I've got the one in potting soil, and am using the fishtank heater method to cycle temps. Basically, I've got the potting soil in a plastic container, which is then placed in the water, and my old aquarium heater set to 85-90 daytime and 70 nighttime.

Snapping turtles(Tank) are very fast runners, when they have something to chase. I'll have to shoot some new video but this guy is fast.
