    Re: Ranch News

A bit of bad news to report on Speckle. It's been 2 weeks since her last dose of Flagyl (Metronidazole) and she is spotting blood again.
My Vet. recommends another 4 weeks(once a week) of meds. She has put much of her weight back on and is eating like a pig. Hoping another run of meds. will solve the problem.
I don't want her to have exploratory surgery. I would rather she be scoped to see if the problem can be located. The unfortunate thing is my Vet. doesn't have a long enough scope to do the job. I hope he can find one if it comes to that since I trust him to give her the best care/chance possible.

The spots of blood weren't just a one off? That sucks, but sounds like the vet has a good idea.

I don't understand your question Chris. She had been blood free for 3 weeks.

You mentioned a spot of blood when we talked last, I'm assuming she's left more than just spots of blood that once.

Our girl Lucky is now living with her daughter (LG) LG is bigger then her mother and has the attitude of her Dad (Scar-R.I.P.)
LG is a go-getter when it comes to food, even attempting to steal from her own mother (shame on you LG)
In this photo you can see Lucky yelling at her for her behavior.

I really don't know what to say. At first I was like... No, Steve... Lucky is not yelling at her girl. Impossible.

But then I looked at the pic more closely...

Who can argue with that analysis?

It's been a good day here at the Ranch. Ny(female, T.s.concinnus - Red-spotted garter) arrived safely in the mail and she's already started eating for me. I also found 9 newborn radix scrubs. Mom is a nice red radix and I'm hoping dad is my high-red male. Time will tell.

    Re: Ranch News

I walked into to the snake room and was met by the sound of a tin cup banging against the paddock bars. It was Speckle and she wanted fed.
Before she was given any food it was med. time. She took another dose of Flagyl
(Metronidazole) and something new. She's been started on a weekly dose of Baytril.
This was suggested by my friend Steve Schmidt and seconded by my Vet. The Baytril was introduced to address some of the nasties not addressed by the Flagyl.
    Aeromonas hydrophilia being one.
Speckle once again is blood-free in her feces which is great but we must find out what is bleeding. I will not subject her to exploratory surgery. If my Vet. acquires a long enough scope I will allow that. For now she is aggreesively feeding and gaining weight.
