    sticky situation

    ok so today is a sad day. My lil gulf coast ribbon sprocket got out of his cage. I found him but he was stuck to one of those pest control strips. i got him off but there is still some sticky stuff stuck to him. does anyone know how to get it off?

    Vegetable or olive oil I've heard helps. Was there any poison in the pest strip? Did he lose any scales?

    Olive oil seems to loosen it up. I use my finger nail to push the adhesive off.

    Antibiotic ointment would be better on open muscle. Skin off or scales off?

    Make sure you keep him on paper towel until he heals up. Steve can give you a better idea of wound care instructions.

    Weak tea looking betadine/water soaks would be good. Let the snake get a drink in a tub before you do this. Then put it in the solution for 10-15 minutes. This can be done daily until the areas scab over. Shed time will be difficult and these areas will once again be raw after the next few sheds. The snake with probably do some emergency sheds to help expedite healing.
    Keep us posted. How large or how many areas are raw?
