Yeah, the only way I can get my king to go back into her tub after a meal is to point her head at the end of a paper towel tube. Sometimes she wedges herself inside and I have to prod her with a finger to get her to come out.

I learned that if the end of the tail is showing, tweek it just a little. They'll shoot out like rocket!! Then turn around and give ya the stink eye.

Since I've changed the girls substrate over to the aspen pellets, which they or I do not like, Jewels now sleeps in the hammock with Mona. I switched over because I found a piece of the sani-chips stuck in Sadies mouth were her issue was early and I don't want this to flare up again. They just love to dig and burrow in their bedding. So until they are fully grown the sani-chips are on hold. I might just go back to the carefresh and give that a try next time I do a full cleaning on the cage. It's so hard to find the uriates and poop with the aspen pellets since it's so dark in color, but it sure does smell good.

CIMG0103.jpgThis is the look Mona gave me after she had a bath. Why a bath?? Well during the worm feeding yesterday I was watching Jewels come on over to the bowl so I could give her the worm w/tongs and Mona came flying outta the log trying to grab a worm, fell into the bowl and was covered in worm slim. Since I didn't want her all chewed up from Jewels and Sadie a bath was in order.

She is really starting to grow up and not as shy as she was. She was always the last one to show her face when I would open the door, but now she's right there w/Jewels & Sadie climbing on my arm and headed for my face. Don't know why, but the glasses are the first place Sadie & Mona head for, Jewels the neck. Then she wraps around my neck like a tie and just hangs out there. These 3 are the BEST!!

Just a few current pics of the girls. Sadie & Mona, the babies from last year are turning into some beautiful ladies. All three of them are perfect, and I couldn't be happier. My neighbor and friend Betty asked me if was going to get any more this year. She tends to all my critters when we are out of town and she LOVES it. She really likes the Thamnophis sirtalis similis, but I'm happy with my 3. I told her that SHE should add these to her household & I would help her in any way I can.

I have NEVER had to clean the water dish because they use their water dish as a toilet. I have never seen them soak in it either. I've put them in the tub for a chance to stretch their scales and to swim and they act like they are on fire. All three of them seem to hate being wet, that is unless they are in a warm moist hide, this they seem to love.
