My name is Angel, I'm looking into getting a garter, and wanted to look around. I currently have two corns, a RES, a bearded dragon, a chinese water dragon, and a cat. I want more snakes, but my boyfriend is not a fan of the larger species, so I was hoping to find some smaller species that he would be comfortable with.

Welcome to the forum Angel. Garters are awesome. Keep in mind garters and cats don't mix so care must be taken to protect the snakes. An escape proof home is very important.

T.radix (plains garter snake) is a great snake and would do well as a first garter (first as in, there will be more)

My cat is really good with the reptiles, she grew up with them, but I always make sure they are in escape proof habitats.
