Re: Newly found little Brown Snake!

They'd look just like smooth snakes (C.austriaca) if they had more spots on they'r back.

There is a strong resemblance! Would love to see the video if you can point me in the direction of it. Will give an idea of what size to make the worms pieces also. On a bright note he's been even more active today and hanging around the water bowl; hoping that's a good sign.

Just cut the chunks in small 8th of an inch pieces. Your snake can handle much larger pieces but this will at least give you something to serve and you won't have to worry about it crawling off the dish. I don't remember if you listed the kind of substrate you are using but care must be taken that he/she doesn't ingest any of it.
If you would like to sex your snake here is a link to a thread that will help or you can post the appropriate photos for us to give it a go. These are garters being visually sexed. It works the same on dekayi only on a smaller scale.

Re: Newly found little Brown Snake!

Thank you all for your info. Sadly, the little guy passed today. We'd offered him 2 tiny worms and a slug yesterday, and thought he was eating. We saw small lumps in his body that looked to be food. Also, the lump at his rear section returned or got more pronounced and we assumed he was having trouble digesting, maybe due to bedding ingestion. But, this morning after he passed, the slug and dried worms were found after all. He was so very active up until a couple days ago, drinking, climbing. We're not sure if it was us or something was amiss when we found him. I will miss the little guy quite a lot; it was really nice having another one.
