Re: Petition to stop Rattlesnake Republic

Something else on the slightly different topic of Rattlesnake Roundups, I have some bad news that I just saw on TV. Usually people in Rattlesnake Roundups are not EXTREMELY experienced, and do not look for visual signs to find their rattlesnakes. Instead, they move their snake tongs around and listen for the characteristic rattle. Now, some herpetologists believe that because of this elimination of noisy rattlers, they are starting to evolve into a rattlesnake that does not like to rattle. This is because while the ones that warn people of their presence are being killed off! As if it is not obscene enough that they kill thousands of rattlesnakes every year, but they also are mixing up a potion for a super deadly snake!

I've heard that, and I have heard that some hunters pipe gasoline fumes into brumation sites to drive the snakes out for capture- this can harm other ground dwelling animals that share the ecosystem. (a gopher tortoises and others.)

We should start a "rattlesnake roundup personnel" roundup!

They are all a bunch of asses. They care for only the mighty dollar.
I would end up in jail if I went to one of those things.

If I went, there wouldn't be a festival afterwards. Just me driving to a wildlife protection park with about 15,000 rattlesnakes in a huge truck.
