    And that's just the radixes.

Exactly. I lose track of the exact count when I go over 15 or so. Especially when I have litters besides my regular residents and/or snakes are coming and going. I was just kind of shocked to hear a number. Steve has always sidestepped that question before. I suspect it's because at the times it was being asked, he probably didn't actually know the exact number.

    Re: Ranch News

    Good Ranch News to report.

#1 Shyblue my only ribbon snake T. proximus orarius (Gulf coast ribbon snake) has started taking unscented night crawlers. When I first offered today she refused but after watching the big T.s.concinnus girls getting all they wanted she broke down and took one.
Every time they grabbed one she rushed toward them as if to say "I wanted that one" but never attempted to take it. It's nice to know I don't have to scent them with fish anymore. Nice going Shyblue.

#2. Daisy (The radix on my Welcome to new members photo) has started eating again. She had gone off food for 4 weeks so I gave her a 1 month chill in the fridge. She's been out for a week and finally started eating. This is good to see as I have a nice albino radix male picked out for her.

    Re: Ranch News

At first things appeared to be getting better for Speckle as I treated her twice daily with the prep-H. Then the blood flow increased. She is now on SMZ/TMP Oral Suspension - SMZ-TMP is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat respiratory, urinary tract, skin or gastrointestinal infections and other conditions. .05ml once a day for the next 7 days. She continues to eat and request to be taken out of the tub and put back with her group. This won't be done until things improve for her condition. I know she wants out as she has bit me a number of times since being placed in the tub. This is a first for her. In all the years she's been with me she has been docile and easy to handle. She's tired of being in quarantine.
I spoke to my Vet. about scoping her to see what is bleeding. He said he is limited to a 4 inch scope and thinks that might not be enough. He also talked about exploratory surgery. I am not considering this as she is an old snake and seem to be handling this situation well. I might see if he can borrow a longer scope or have one of his colleagues scope her out.

The reality is, good hands can't stop nature. I certainly don't want to lose my girl .
I hope this new run of medication will help.

A thought on the biting - it may be a sign that she is in some discomfort, as much as due to the change in accommodation. I know we're hoping that the antibiotics will help, but you know the reality of the symptoms aren't good. I think you're right that if you subject her to an invasive procedure it's not worthwhile unless the vet can see more than 4 inches.
That she's still eating well is a big positive though, whatever is going on in her digestive tract isn't severe enough to put her off her food.

    Re: Ranch News

I've had a bearded dragon for a number of years and there have never been any issues until tonight. As I approached the enclosure I noticed Toad(my name for her)watching me open a new can of Zoo Med grasshoppers, nothing new with that.
So, I grabbed one of the grasshoppers and offered it. Toad launched herself off her log a grabbed my finger and started chewing.
I was lucky to get out of there with only minor bleeding. She's never reacted that way to food before and this isn't the first time she has eaten these.
This is my first bearded dragon bite. Rotten Toad.

I remember when i had my beardie "Sanchez" was her name, lol i thought she was a he for a while...I had banana over my fingers when i was trying to feed her one day and she chomped down on my finger pretty good. It wasn't half as bad as i was expecting it to be though. lol. My bite experience is pretty lousy, been bit by a few garters by my beardie and i think a Tokey and leaf tail gecko, but that's it. I have a couple corns and a Brazilian Rainbow boa... I'm hoping to never be bitten by my BRB... I just have this feeling that boa bites hurt more lol
