Questions on plants.

Im looking for plants that will grow up the rock wall that I built.I noticed that pothos and ficus pumila are most popular choices for climbing plants.

Would these two be suitable for my marcianus viv?

Is there a way to stop the snakes digging up the plant?

Can ivy from outside be used? (I found a few small plants and I'm growing them on a window sill)

I have had best luck with plants labeled as tolerant to low light.
My T. Butlerii burrow around in the coco husk and potting soil substrate, but they have so far left the plants alone.
Butlers are small though- max just over 20 inches and no bigger around than my little finger.

I think my checkered and easterner would flatten anything delicate or not extremely well rooted.

if they are digging at ground level (of terrarium) it may be usefull that you put some small stones right under the plant, i dont have climbing plants but the small stones work well for me (i have ferns inside the terrarium).

Hey Will! Back when I had a few garters in a naturalistic enclosure, ivy was my favorite! Very hardy and looks great! Give it a try, im sure you'll love it.

Pathos will grow in water only(no soil). I'm sure a little garter poop will probably help the plant.

Its easy, mi fern is in a small plastic pot, around 8 cm diameter, on top of the soil I put small stones surrounding the stems to avoid diggin, they must have a medium to high lighting and should be watered at least once a month, depending on the soil moisture. I do this with my fern and never had moisture problems and the fern has never dried, if the plant gets too big just cut the bigger stems.

PD. I dont know exactly what species is mi fern but it looks like this:

I found that plastic or silk plants do quite well in a garter enclosure. No soil or water, (or light for that matter) needed.

Even my variegated pathos' are fake.

The dart frog people have some great planting ideas, but many species they use are too tropical and wet loving to use for garters.

I found mine in the four inch potted houseplant section of home depot. It was one of only a handful that were tagged as low light tolerant plants.
Philodendrons are supposed to do well planted high on the wall, trailing down. (Living vine ladders)
I like to keep mine in the four inch pots so they can be easily pulled out and traded

Maybe some ivy, garter snakes can be found in the general area where I live and I have ivy growing in my backyard. That stuff spreads like wildfire.
