I'm guessing that's a native American species? I've never seen anything like it over here.

well, after following the first link, I was in fear for my life
I touched that thing
I even touched the tip of tongue to one of the berries
the second link gave me hope again
well - I could tell that those berries weren't edible
maybe I'll try the shoots next spring

Another site I read, which had much less info, stated that all parts of the plant are very poisonous. So I don't know what to think about that, except that perhaps you must eat it only in the spring, when the development is at a certain immature stage...
