If it was laced with anything I would be getting charged extra. I mean, c'mon. It's already profitable enough, and there is no practical way to "cut" weed. What are you going to cut it with, oregano? Gimmie a break. Any user would spot that a mile away. We know what weed looks like and there's nothing that matches it. Can't say that about coke and meth and besides, profits aren't the only reason for cutting those. The main reason is that they are extremely potent when approaching 90 percent purity, and dead customers are bad for business.

I dont' care if you have the most potent weed on earth, it's not going to kill your customers. And there's no need to "cut" it. You simply charge more per ounce, and your customers who appreciate quality will happily pay it.
In NYC.. Some dealers lightly spray weed with roach spray or other stuff.. The theory is that it gets the customers more f-ed up from smoking just 1 joint and they will come back for more and also spread the word that this particular dealer has some great stuff..

And the minute I took one toke, I would know, and in the garbage it would go. Hey, that rhymes. That **** has petroleum distillates in it. You don't think I would notice the taste? That's like saying you wouldn't notice if I put motor oil in your drink. Well, I don't know how it is in other parts of the country, but no such measures are needed here and I couldn't smoke a whole joint if I wanted to. All it takes is 1-2 tokes and you're as high as you're going to get. Any more than that is just a waste because you won't get "higher" by smoking more.

My take on this is that I would rather see pot regulated than not. I do not smoke, and I have no desire to. I did try it when I was a kid and it was just not for me.

I see weed as no more of a vice than alchohol, tobaccoo, or fast food. I don't think it's healthy and I don't want to do it. I know plenty of people who use weed and maintain their jobs and manage their lives just fine. I don't care if they want to make the personal choice to fill their lungs with pot smoke, any more than I don't care if they want to go home and have a few beers after work or smoke a pack of ciggs a day. Some people are going to use it, most are not. I do not think pot can be placed in the same group as coke, meth, heroine, ect.

I also know several people whos lives/health have been seriously damaged, or even ended, by BAD batches of weed. Because some idiot decided to lace it with something. I would rather that the government regulate it and set industry standards so as to make it safer.

** Just wanted to ad a note to my last statement about lacing. I suppose frequency varries in different parts of the country, but lacing dose happen, and it can cause a lot of damage to ususpecting people. Sometimes it's done for effect, sometimes it's done with intent to harm. The risk of getting a bad batch of pot IS there. I believe gov't regulation would make weed safer for those who choose to use it.

It's already been done before. Or did we forget already?

National prohibition of alcohol (1920-33)--the "noble experiment"--was undertaken to reduce crime and corruption, solve social problems, reduce the tax burden created by prisons and poorhouses, and improve health and hygiene in America. The results of that experiment clearly indicate that it was a miserable failure on all counts. The evidence affirms sound economic theory, which predicts that prohibition of mutually beneficial exchanges is doomed to failure.

Although consumption of alcohol fell at the beginning of Prohibition, it subsequently increased. Alcohol became more dangerous to consume; crime increased and became "organized"; the court and prison systems were stretched to the breaking point; and corruption of public officials was rampant. No measurable gains were made in productivity or reduced absenteeism. Prohibition removed a significant source of tax revenue and greatly increased government spending.

Speaking of prohibition, there is a great show called "Boardwalk Empire". The setting is 1920's with corrupt politicians, gangsters and bootleggers. It's a great show and if you're a fan of Goodfellas, The Godfather, Casino, etc you will love this show.

I'll say it again. Money isn't everything and everything shouldn't have a price.
The legalization and control of alcohol hasn't worked. I guess it's the "acceptable costs" of doing business.
I guess now we'll just have to accept the cost of marijuana too.

I have finished what I want to say on this subject.

I agree. It shouldn't be that way at all. It's unnatural. And it's unnatural because so is the current level of "civilization" we now enjoy. The only thing holding social order together and keeping people from just doing whatever the hell they want, is money, which in itself is an illusion. Apparently Governments just shut right the hell down without money. Without money, police quit patrolling the streets. Without money, fire stations close down, without money, you get what happened to the poorest parts of Detroit. No police, no fire... they just let it burn. You're on your own. and you get the very fabric of social order falling apart at the seams, like what's happening in Greece.

Do you have any idea the amount of bio fuel we can get from a field of industrial hemp? I don't, but I can assure you it's alot. These laws can help pave the way for growing hemp. It's not all about drug use.

I know you read your Bible Steve. You know what I'm talking about. All of mans efforts to govern himself will fail. Money/monetary systems will fail and with it Governments will fall. You know this to be true. I don't even believe everything I read in that book and even I can see it's coming.

    Now
you're getting it.. Even though failure is inevitable, this is just one step to ensure that the fabric of society, held together by money, will live to see another day without falling apart completely.

Is money everything? No. It's nothing. Don't care about it myself. It's just a piece of paper. But I don't have to tell you what happens when the system breaks down. We've already witnessed what happens if you watch world news at all.

I don't like seeing the world getting one step closer to the big "A" anymore than you do, but it's happening. I highly doubt that legalization will help speed it up. If anything, it will help slow it down. Put it off for another day.
