Question Bringing back Garter snakes from Europe.

If I want to get something other than marcianus my best bet is to go to mainland Europe to get them.I don't know what the laws are on bringing animals from another country so i have a few questions.
.Has anyone from the Uk done this before?
.Did you need special licenses, paper work or permission to do it?

snakes do not carry any thing that humans need to worry about getting, so snakes are ok
no quarantine etc, don't think you can fly, must use own car on ferry or tunnel
(I have bought lots back from Europe) We were only asked for full paperwork on tortoises, they moved the snakes out of the way, were not bothered by them

I think the only time you may have any problems is if customs thought any of the snakes were on a CITES list. No permissions necessary to bring snakes in from the EU.

Re: Bringing back Garter snakes from Europe.

The bus can refuse you travel if you're taking snakes, I changed my plan for a past trip because of that. You chould package the snakes securely and well labeled. Defra guidelines - Transport guidelines - PACKER'S GUIDELINES Rp/3
You don't officially need paperwork on anything not on the cites list. But, having a breeder certificate and receipt will make things easier if you get stopped/searched.
Keeping - 'Florida blue' sirtalis, concinnus, infernalis, parietalis, radix, marcianus and ocellatus.
