The ones I keep finding running around my place in CA are huge and scary as hell but the exterminator assures me that they are not dangerous. He says the males have no venom at all and the females have very little and it won't cause problems even if you were to get bit. I still don't like half-dollar sized spiders running across my floor at supersonic speed. Freaks me out.
