I've seen that before. The thing is, they will do that especially if the females aren't in heat. The humping other males is explainable. He is showing his dominance over the other cat. It's not about sex.

Re: Jesse's garter snakes
It's not dominance with snakes though..Here's the size comparison btw, and why I moved rooster up there instead of these two.. They looked a bit smothered.
Double post... Don't know how that happened...

It's called mopani wood.. You can find it at most pet stores for a largely overcharged price. it's my favorite decor though.
They come in little bags of multiple little pieces of the wood, or a big piece like these. You can screw 'em together, stick plants in them, whatever. They're pretty cool

Re: Jesse's garter snakes
Mopani wood is awesome. I use it too. It's from Africa and it's the hardest wood known to man. Will not rot in moist environments and can even be used underwater if you soak it first to leech out the tannins.
All commercially available mopani wood is salvaged from burned and/or dead trees.

I thought petrified wood was the hardest wood known to man?

Hey Jessie what type of substrate do you use? How would you rate it amongst all the other substrates you've used?

Re: Jesse's garter snakes
It's called ReptiBark.. I love it, looks natural, easy to clean, too big to stick to food usually, or be easily swallowed (although if they did, it wouldn't be good..). I prefer it over Aspen because of the color and cuz it doesn't stick to food.
Only other bedding besides aspen I've tried is carefresh and I chucked that out after a week. Looks like wet toilet paper. Lol
8/10 lol
