    Thanks for those kind words.

    Re: Ribbon on the Ranch

Just read the whole thread over to try to pull out some tips. Plenty of things im going to apply to my ribbon. Right now she is being kept alone in an aquarium. I feel bad about startling the poor girl every time I open the lid. Once I am able to move her into a front opening cage, I really hope to be able to form somewhat of a bond with her.

Great to see and hear about Shyblue! I have a special place in my heart for her. She has really come around...good work Steve. Bella acts much like Shyblue...she interacts with me and feels safe as long as she is in her enclosure...but freaks out if I hold her...she musks me every single time! Little stinker. As far as intelligence in garters goes...I know they are very intelligent. Sadie has figured out when it is feeding time just by watching me move snakes into feeding tanks. She couldn't possibly smell the food...so she must have actually put together in her head exactly what happens at feed time. So smart!

    Re: Ribbon on the Ranch

Things have taken a few steps back with Shyblue. Over the last month she has gotten much more jumpy. I'm not sure what has caused this change but it is very noticeable.
I've decided to move her to another enclosure that is larger and has a few less snakes in it.
She is now living with my 4 T.s.concinnus girls. I'm hoping this change will help calm her down.
She's a wonderful snake and I maybe fighting a losing battle but we'll give it a try.

    Re: Ribbon on the Ranch

I wouldn't give up hope yet. I have noticed my snakes going in and out of phases. Cee Cee will seem as though she is making incredible progress with me in terms of trust and then go through a few weeks of acting as if she has no idea who I am anymore...then she will snap out of it. Right now she has decided she does not like my red fingernail polish and she wants nothing to do with me half the time. Sadie, on the other hand, has decided that she is not afraid of me now...and she wants me to hold her. I do hope that Shyblue comes around. She is such a lovely, sweet girl.

I've seen Shy out cruising with her roommates. She's been off food for the last couple of weeks.
Hoping that will change at her next feeding time.

    Re: Ribbon on the Ranch

    This is a good day.

Shyblue ate some tilapia this afternoon. I set the first piece on a log near her and a few moments later she was eating. The second piece came off my hemostats.
She's still jumpier then before but she eating again and that's a good thing.

    Way to go Shy.
