    Where to put moss?

I went to petco today and bought some terra moss and was wondering where I should put it? Pictures are welcome.

    Re: Where to put moss?

I use moist moss in hides and I also put it in the corners of enclosures in a pile. I have at least one moist moss hide in each enclosure. You can just take a deli cup and turn it over...cut a little hole for a doorway and put the moss inside...spritz it often to keep it moist...or you can put it inside any other type of hide. Sometimes I just make a nice big pile in the corner of the tank and spritz often to keep it moist...the snakes like to burrow in it. Sorry...I have no camera at the moment.

I use the tubs I get crickets for my lizards in. I just cut a whole in the end, smooth off the edges and fill it with moss. I keep the lid on and it stays damp for a few days before you have to spray it again. It doesn't look fantastic but it's quick, cheap and functional

for my babies i put it in a deli cup with no lid and just place it in there like that so the moss can dry out after you mist it otherwise it will mold. the snakes can easily crawl in and out of the moss

I thought moss had anti-fungal properties and therefore doesn't mold? If I'm wrong someone correct me

Nope. Peat moss has some limited antibacterial properties thanks to the low pH, but moss will mold.

I have never had my sphagnum moss grow mold. It just dries out and then I spray it and make it moist again. Of course, I always have it so that it can dry out and it doesn't stay constantly moist.

Same here, which is why I use the ventilated cricket tubs
