Oh Steve...I am so very sorry to hear this. I know how much you loved Kaboom and Boomerang. Isn't Sammy part of the red radix line? We can talk. I don't like leaving Seeley without a mate...but if you really want Sammy back for breeding...we can arrange something. Perhaps I could send him back to you and you could send me another mate for Seeley...or you could breed Sammy and then send him back to me. Contact me on skype.

As far as Kaboom's injury goes...I know you will feel bad no matter what I say...but as others have said...we are human and we all make mistakes. Yesterday, when dealing with the mite situation...Bella got into the top of a plastic tub and I shut it on her...if I had not seen her and latched the top shut, it would have killed her...I was very lucky. One of the eastern babies escaped from the plastic container and got into Julian's toy box full of heavy toys...one shift and he would have been smushed. Again I was lucky because he came out before anything could happen to him. We all have incidences in which our snakes come into danger...sometimes we luck out and sometimes we don't. Please try not to be so hard on yourself.

Rest in peace sweet Kaboom...you are with your mother now.

I feel the same way when my snakes died, even though I did whatever I could. I even feel like Snakey would still be alive if I had dealt with my depression better... But in reality, 6-8 years old is pretty old for a wild snake, especiallly around here.
So sorry for your loss. I'm always available if you need someone to talk to. If I'm not at the PC, you can always leave a message.

So sorry to hear about Kaboom's passing As everyone else has said, don't feel too bad, things happen, and at least he helped you find the problemed area in the enclosure.

Is Kaboom not related to Nova?
