Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Unfortunately I noticed and read your link after I spent hours cleaning and scrubbing all my tanks. I followed the directions on the bottle and websites focused on how to use the spray. I hope I just didn't make a major mistake. On the bottle it said to spray the reptile, but not on the face or vent, and rub it over the animal. That's what I did. Soak the reptile in water since the spray dries out the reptile while killing any mites. My snakes won't sit still for two minutes they're so energetic so I provided a big bowl of water which they eventually went into. I stripped all my tanks and gave each one and their decor. a good soapy scrubbing. Rest assured I rinsed them all thourghly. I didn't see any mites while cleaning but that doesn't mean there aren't any. I just really hope not! It appears that I now have to worry about whether or not I just terminated each of my five.

"For direct application to tortoise only. Do not apply directly to snake, lizards or other reptiles"

This is what the label on my spray says unless they have changed things since I bought some.

Mine is Reptile Spray by Natural Chemistry. Polly's Pet Shop didn't have the Prevent-A-Mite like they said they did so I bought this stuff. It was pictured with the Prevent-A-Mite bottle on a website I looked at, but they only had the one. It was either this bottle or one by Zoo Med. Natural Chemistry seemed the better option.

I have used that produce before and it didn't work. Provent-A-Mite is a product that will work.
It's good you are not seeing any mites but that product will not eliminate the problem.
I strongly recommend you order some of the other product.

Ugh...I hope that it wasn't the provent-a-mite that you sprayed directly on the snake.

Re: Anyone ever had a venomous?

Mike is a "living on the edge" kind of guy...lol. I saw a thing on t.v. that said it takes 23 viles of antivenom to save your limbs from falling off if you get bit by a cottonmouth. Honestly, I'm a thrill seeker myself...if I didn't have a child...I'd keep hots. Someday when I'm like 60 and my son is out of the house...you'll hear about some old crazy snake lady that died because a bunch of venomous snakes got loose and ate her.

I wasn't going to settle for just a scrub down.
