    Flame Gene

How does the flame gene work? Like what do you breed to get them? Can you breed a normal eastern to a flame and get flames or just flame+flame. Etc etc

    Thanks

It's always best to have two high end flames to breed together.the amount of color the babies will have vary.usually the ratio is pretty even.all this het flame crap you see in some ads is bull.some babies from flame breedings will have no color.those babies are het for nothing and will not produce flames.the more color the better with flames.

I didn't answer you r question.yes, you can get flames from flame to normal.but depending on the color of the flame your results will vary.if it's a low end.the babies won't have much color.

Does erythristic work the same way? I'm getting some flames and erys in the near future and had the same question.

Good to know. That helps a lot, thanks.

I'm about to buy a female of some kind for future breeding, trying to decide which of my males to work with first. I'm thinking my flame.

    Re: Flame Gene

Reviving this thread to ask a few more questions..

First, I apparently failed to mention originally, my flame is an erythristic flame, the genes work about the same, correct?

Also what happens when you breed a flame of some sort to some other eastern morph like say, a melantistic? Or an albino.

Branching off that last question, as greedy as this sounds, what are some of the more profitable eastern morphs, produced by/with a flame as one of the parents, or both parents. just for the hell of it

Just thinking future breeding here, the next few snakes I buy are going to be with breeding in mind. Money wouldn't be my biggest motive, and won't decide what I breed necessarily, but I'd like to make some buck of something in the next few years

.. I honestly don't remember, at the time I didn't really have any breeding plans, didn't care too much about that.. I want to say yes, but I don't remember exactly.

    I'll figure that out though

    Re: Flame Gene

If it is het for albino which would be the schuett albino you could breed it to a schuett albino and produce albino flames and ery albinos. If it is not het you will get flames, ery's and normals that are 100% het albino.
