    Re: Leeches

My reaserch found. All bait leeches to be school tho many are flattened up on 'farms'. They are easy to catch with traps baited with liver or kidneys.
I chose not to try them due to possible parasites, but they were probably t. Butlerii 's staple food before worms were reintroduced to the great lakes region by man.

    Re: Leeches

The leeches sold as bait are scavengers. They eat mosquito larvae and anything dead they find in the water. Other species do live in the same bodies of water and could get mixed in I suppose.
anyone know if turtle leeches like other species of reptiles?

I had wondered about that as well. I have not been able to find out. Many times they are credited with feeding on "reptiles" and nothing more is said. I'm also curious.

    Re: Leeches

from what I read they taste terrible so perhaps sauteed with a bit of butter and garlic...

make that plenty of garlic and maybe some ginger. I suggest from the looks of them red wine a few gallons to wash them down...
