I'm terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved python. I look forward to you getting some nice garters.

Thanks everyone! Steve, I think with a little patience and some TLC, Panzer is going to be a big sweetheart... (I hope!)

    Mike,

A trick to knowing Panzer will be learning her/his eyes.
You can tell how they are feeling and what they are thinking from their eyes.
There are many different looks to learn. I'm still learning with Tank.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely pay more attention to the eyes and try to learn what's going on.. So far, the only look I understand completely is the "feed me" stare, lol!

The biggest problem in learning is the fact the eyes act independently which doubles they amount of looks they can give you.
It's great when you start figuring them out and can react to how they are feeling instead of simply forcing a situation on them.
They have moody times just like us. Times they want some interaction and times they want to be left alone.
Tank asks for interaction if you leave him alone too long.

Panzer lets me know when she's not in the mood for any touching. She'll lean and push with her shell, so I'll back off. I'll start paying more attention to the eyes and see if I can start picking up on her signals.

Good job on giving the ball python 33 years of life! Garters each have their own little personalities. They're so much fun to interact with!

Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

This year's baby big-headed little eating machines. We had 10 born last Monday, one stillborn the next day but no slugs. One even nipped the tip off it's own tail while getting at it's placenta as you can see in the bottom pic. They're all eating well & have calmed down considerably in the last week which has surprised me. Last year's holdback is still a bit cranky, but these all have taken quickly to being handled.

They still haven't shed. I can't wait to see how they look once they have, they usually look so much different after the first couple of sheds.
