    Eat calcium!

when i try to feed Garry his Ca and D3 food he strolls up to it really exited and then flicks his tongue at it turns around and buggers off(its quite understandable.Imagine some one covering your stake and chips with a funny smelling powder lol) Is there a way i could get him to take his calcium?

What I do is lightly dust the tail end of a pinky (sometimes I'll also scent the head of the pinky with fish) and then grab it with a pair of large tweezers and point the head of the pinky towards my garters and then they do the rest

I dip the back end of a worm in the powder , as she always goes for the head and once she starts eating the worm you know she will get to the back end

As the others have said, dust one end and offer the undusted end. Mine tend to pause when they get to the point where they can taste the powder, but then decide that it's easier to keep going than spit it out. I also offer them an undusted piece of food first, just to get the feeding response going.

I also have some multivitamin powder, which smells stronger, and have had less success with that even using the same method as I use for Ca. It seems to be strong enough that they are put off taking even the undusted end (other than a couple of my girls that I'm entering in the Olympic 2 minute eating race - they eat anything).

When i have garter snakes that are not used yet to vitamin/mineral powder "on their food" I do the following.

On the bottom of plate or bowl in which I place the food, I strew some powder. On that powder I lay the fish. Works 99 of the 100 times without problems.
Some of my garter snakes I feed out of a pair of tweezers. In that case I only put powder on the "end-piece" of the food-item.
Start with a tiny bit of powder and when this accepted, add a little bit more the next time... etc. etc.
